Worldwide Operations Sustainability (WWOS) is hiring a program manager to lead sustainable transportation public policy and partnership/coalition initiatives to meet our commitment to be net zero emissions by 2040 (the Climate Pledge). This role will partner directly with teams within Amazon’s Transportation Operations and Public Policy Teams to identify policy and partnership opportunities. This role must be able to evaluate key inputs that drive our transportation decarbonization outputs and identify sustainability solutions that support our broader goals of delivering excellent customer experience and reduced cost to serve.
The role requires a leader who understands transportation and logistics and can use policy and partnership levers to drive results. The role must be able to communicate clearly with senior leaders in verbal and written communications and use data to gain commitment to act on sustainability initiatives. In this role, effectively influencing without authority is essential to success. Finally, the role must be able to earn trust across a broad range of stakeholders across Amazon.
Ideally, the candidate will have a passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship. Experience working in sustainability or a basic understanding of sustainability principles is required. This role is responsible for essential stakeholder engagement that will chart the course for WW Operations to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Paris Climate Agreement. Key job responsibilities
1. Develop sustainable transportation policy and partnership inputs to drive desired outcomes for cost, speed, and sustainability in Amazon’s operations
2. Partner directly with teams across Operations and with Public Policy to deliver optimal sustainability results
3. Lead external-facing initiatives for WW Operations to achieve net zero emissions in ops by 2040
A day in the life
This role is for a leader who is passionate about influencing through a cross-functional group of stakeholders while being willing to roll up their sleeves to deliver results. A day in this role will include engaging with internal and external experts to identify opportunities to accelerate progress on decarbonization, attending doc reviews on key transportation initiatives, meeting with Operations leaders to influence their approach to sustainability through policy and partnerships, and meeting with team members to track progress to goals and identify new opportunities to drive deeper decarbonization.

The vision of Worldwide Operations Sustainability (WWOS) is to create the world’s most sustainable logistics network that protects resources for future generations. Our mission is to break down technological, economic, and organizational barriers to deliver sustainability solutions for WW Operations. Worldwide Operations Sustainability (WWOS) maintains the overarching strategy and interim targets to achieve the Climate Pledge by 2040, and topics that extend beyond decarbonization. WWOS centrally coordinates across operations in all regions, particularly on topics that transcend business unit boundaries. WWOS aims to accelerate outcomes for key decisions, identify the right stakeholders to make decisions, and provide central guidance for resource allocation to drive our path for the Climate Pledge.
- 8+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- Experience in government and/or public policy

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
