Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting
  • 2 years of experience with developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience developing a client application for macOS, Windows, Linux, or iOS
  • Experience on open-source projects
  • Experience with C++ or Objective-C
  • Experience with platform integration (e.g. MacOS)

We’re responsible for the overall quality of Chrome on macOS. We do engineering work to improve performance and platform integration, to fix Mac-specific issues, and to adapt cross-platform features and toolkits to work well on the Mac. We also do new feature development, and support feature development driven by other groups within Chrome on their Mac design and implementation work.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Participate in platform integration, including tying in with new and existing OS features, interfacing with OS-specific services, and matching general expectations for consistency on the platform.
  • Improve Chrome’s speed and responsiveness, and to reduce power consumption.
  • Improve Mac integration with Chrome’s cross-platform toolkit layer.
  • Drive growth through targeted changes that improve the user experience.
  • Participate in an open-source community, where bug reports and code contributions may come from people external to Google.
