Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience with one or more optical technologies such as client transceivers, optical metro, DWDM systems, or submarine systems.
  • Experience with Network Architecture, Network Configuration, Network Operations, Optical Engineering and Operations, Network Design, Telecommunications, Collaboration, and Decision Making.
  • Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
  • Experience with network equipment manufacturer or network operator in engineering or design role.
  • Experience with Team Building, Organizational Skills, Articulate Presenter, and Network Diagnostics.

In this role, you will translate the theoretical tactical goal of the Open Network Initiative (ONI). ONI Architecture into clearly defined build and operating plan, provide third-level operational support and oversees product and network design solutions. You will be supporting tier 3 assurance resolution within the Global Submarine Networks (GSN) operations team, resolving network solution issues, performance, and quality concerns collaborating with cross-functional teams, developing new processes and interfaces within a new product area ensuring best practices, quality, performance reporting, assurance, and product offering, defining network and product catalog with business teams, performance improvements and standards, strategic planning, staying updated on technology trends to develop the GSN Operate Roadmap.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the quantifiable analysis of measurements, or data and capacity forecast models for making networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver predictable user experience.
  • Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in ONI network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them.
  • Develop software that improves the performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of network systems.
  • Interface between Network, Google Engineering, and Supplier teams, establish a transition support role for building and operating the Global Submarine Optical network, defining and managing the technical requirements and expectations of GSN with stakeholders.
  • Create and implement acceptance standards, Methods of Procedure (MoP) in quality improvements for operational move add change (MACD), network SLAs, and key metrics to measure network quality across the GSN Network.
