Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is looking to add a Senior Software Engineer as we lead the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture.

 

Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture.

 

Microsoft Fabric is quite possibly the most exciting Microsoft service today, frequently in the news, growing its user base very rapidly, and making waves across the industry. The Middle Tier team is a core component of Fabric Platform. We rely on different Azure technologies like Service Fabric, SQL Azure, REDIS cache, Service Bus, APIM, Blob storage, Kusto, Containers etc. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to assist in building a world class service that combines big data, mission critical data and real-time data. This combination makes this area possibly the most cutting edge across the entire industry!

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#/Java coding and T-SQL, OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with highly scalable cloud services.

 

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
    • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Passion for building highly performant scalable services
  • Outstanding technical problem solving and debugging skills
  • Passion for quality with experience designing and implementing automated tests, including unit tests and integration tests
  • Effective communication skills

 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for passionate developers with comprehensive experience in all service aspects of high-throughput, multi-tenant Azure services. The ideal candidate should have the ability to design components that handle various types of errors on Azure, write clean and well-structured code with solid tests for maintainability, and be proficient in C#.
