DESCRIPTION

Ring is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Designer to join the Industrial Design team and lead our product development for future Ring hardware. You will lead end-to-end design development, from concept creation to mass production readiness, while collaborating with highly motivated cross-functional teams including product planning, engineering, UX/UI, and packaging & graphic design to ensure design feasibility, engineering integration, and successful launch. The Industrial Designer will deliver customer-centric design solutions, balancing technical constraints and complexity. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects.
This role requires expertise in advanced prototyping, CMF specification, and technical graphics, along with strong problem-solving skills to navigate the evolving nature of product development. The Industrial Designer will work across multiple projects, balancing cost and craftsmanship, and technical feasibility while embracing Ring’s design language and long-term strategy.


Key job responsibilities
- Lead all stages of the design process, delivering 2D sketches, CMF specifications, technical graphics, advanced 3D models with class-A surfacing, prototypes, and photo-realistic renderings for presentations.
- Implement Ring’s design language, ensuring consistency, and alignment with brand identity and business goals.
- Work closely with engineers and suppliers to develop designs that balance craftsmanship, cost, and engineering feasibility.
- Support DFM & DFA processes and create rapid prototypes to validate functional and aesthetic aspects.
- Partner with CMF teams to ensure a cohesive color, material, and finish strategy.
- Sync with design and engineering teams across different time zones, including participation in weekly meetings and potential international travel (1–2 trips annually).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Design or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial design, preferably in consumer electronics or related industries.
- Exceptional 2D visualization skills (sketching, storyboarding, digital rendering).
- - Advanced 3D CAD modeling skills with experience in developing technically viable and compelling designs.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for effective collaboration with design, engineering, and product teams.
- A portfolio showcasing a user-centric design process, with successful products taken from concept to production.
- Deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, DFM, and DFA to ensure efficient production.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Proven ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships while delivering high-quality designs under tight deadlines.
- Strong prototyping skills, from quick foam models to functional validation prototypes.
- Experience collaborating with engineering and product marketing teams for successful product launches.
- Previous experience in consumer electronics design and/or camera device design is a plus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
