Worldwide Commercial Sales (WWCS) is a salesforce of more than 16,000 sellers and support staff operating around the globe, responsible for greater than half of AWS revenue. Within WWCS, the Sales Strategy team architects and is responsible for our organization’s sales resourcing model, annual operational planning, three-year strategy, and success of our multi-year strategic programs.
We do strategy peculiarly at AWS. We are curious with deep knowledge of the industry and the levers shaping its futures, and we are responsible for the short-term tactics and the long-term strategy of our businesses. In the WWCS Sales Strategy team, we work closely with internal business leaders to glean their knowledge, incorporate data and information from external sources, and develop our own insights to inform and drive change across our global sales organization. As the NAMER Sr. Manager Sales Strategy, you will lead the development and execution of AWS’ North America (NAMER) commercial sales strategy. You will Dive Deep into customer segments, the customer journey, AWS adoption, best practices, and financial performance. You will then Think Big to create compelling strategic recommendations for your sales executives that apply these learnings at scale. Leveraging your experience and insights, you will lead impactful multi-year sales strategy initiatives across your Geo. You will work closely with your sales executives to author and evolve both short- and long-term strategies to meet their business objectives. Finally, and as part of the global AWS Sales Strategy team, you will work with counterparts from other Geos and the worldwide team to scale best practices and innovation to other parts of our organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong sales strategy experience, a deep analytical background, financial acumen, and experience implementing complex global sales strategy initiatives in multi-national technology organizations. They will have deep experience working closely with sales executives to drive growth and a customer-first mindset, and bring the foresight required to anticipate business needs, make short- and long-term trade-offs, and balance business dynamics despite constraints. Strong judgement and a demonstrated ability to influence without explicit authority are keys to success, as well as knowing where and when to advocate vigorously for a well-informed position.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage a team of sales strategy professionals
- Drive strategy at the Geo, Area, and Segment levels while guiding investments to achieve goals
- Develop relationships with senior leaders across organizations to gain and share strategic insights
- Serve as a trusted advisor on complex business decisions, influencing across all areas and levels of the organization
- Collaborate with teams including Sales, Finance, Operations, and Enablement
- Conduct research, develop analysis, work with data science teams, and synthesize learnings to author proposals of strategic importance that drive change
- Oversee multi-year strategy initiatives and propose adjustments based on data and observations
- Support one-year operational planning
- Up to 15% travel for management activities

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.
- 10+ years’ experience in strategy consulting, or working in strategic capacities at Fortune 500 companies
- Ability to conduct sophisticated and creative analysis of complex data and translate the results into actionable deliverables, messages, and documents
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional audiences on complex strategies
- Strong financial, analytical, verbal, and written communications skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or related fields
- Senior-level leader at a top strategy consulting firm
- Experience working with global sales organizations
- Expert-level knowledge of cloud computing and IT markets
- Extensive experience delivering complex, data-driven recommendations to senior executives
- Ability to operate efficiently in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment
- Exceeds Amazon’s leadership principle requirements for this role
- MBA, PhD, or other relevant advanced degree

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
