In the Amazon Appstore team, we create and deliver ground-breaking app and subscription experiences that are great on their own, and magical when seamlessly working together.
Does the idea of being a key leader, inventing, and building the future of how customers are entertained and interact with Amazon devices sound exciting? Are you passionate about delivering products at global scale, creating simple solutions for complex problems, and inventing new ways to delight customers? As a Sr. Manager, you will help create and drive the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for a team of senior product managers with a high degree of ownership over the customer experience. You will also help customers discover, buy and engage with apps, games, and services on Fire TV and Fire Tablets. This role is inherently cross-functional - you will work closely with engineering, user experience design, economists, hardware teams, operations, finance, and executive teams to envision, develop, and launch innovative products.

The ideal candidate will possess strong people management, exceptional product management and organizational skills, have a high-degree of customer obsession, along with ability to manage and execute against goals. A strong grasp of product development, analytics, and data driven decision making is crucial. The ability to communicate ideas with conviction, partnering with their engineering counterpart to influence/collaborate with their team, senior leaders, and colleagues in multiple partner teams around the world will be vital to this candidate’s success. The immediate team is co-located in Seattle WA and Irvine CA but Appstore also has key sites in India, Japan, and across Europe.
Responsibilities may include:
- Develop think big ideas and creating the business case to drive customer engagement, acquisition, and retention.
- Setting a vision, charter, roadmap for the team and delivering on products and features through their entire life cycle, from inception to post-launch support.
- Inspire the team, colleagues and leadership to help bring new initiatives and products to life.
- Being a passionate customer advocate by deeply understanding and articulating the customer needs through research, expertise, and prioritization.
- Lead and develop a team of experienced senior product managers.
- Preparing and delivering business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks.
- Write and review new business concepts, requirements documents, define use cases, features, and KPIs.
- Strategically creating a step-change in how customers interact with Amazon devices as part of their app or game experiences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA degree is a plus
- 10+ years product management or similar field of experience
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience of hiring and developing teams
- Experience managing products through entire life cycle – from inception to launch.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years in product management
- 5+ years leading high-performing product management teams
- Passion for creating innovative solutions for consumers
- Excellent ability to mix intuition, data and judgement calls to make decision
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems independently with an extreme attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders successfully without formal authority and lead cross-functional teams across geographies
- Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing technology concepts, experience evaluating trade-offs and new opportunities with technical team members
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is required and ambiguity is constant
- Experience using rapid prototyping and other creative mechanisms to gather direct customer feedback early in the product development process.
- Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $178,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $307,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
