DESCRIPTION

The Safety Coordinator provides technical support and assists with the execution of Amazon's Global Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. The Safety Coordinator will engage and partner professionally with both the associates and operation management team to promote safety awareness and education. The Safety Coordinator will lead initiatives aimed at reducing both conditional and ergonomic risks in processes, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all individuals on site.

Detailed Description:
• Conduct regular site safety audits to identify any equipment that does not comply with safety standards. Implement corrective measures to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent potential injuries.
• Minimize the risk of ergonomic injury to employees through awareness, education and early intervention
• Be actively involved with improvements to Amazon standard work process, evaluating potential poor ergonomic conditions through change management processes
• Escalate any near misses and safety hazards.
• Collaborating with Operation Leaders on safety engagements and 5S projects.
• Maintain Wellness Zone area organization and lead stretch training sessions.

Key job responsibilities
This individual will assist the safety manager in monitoring safety compliance and provide assistance in the identification of potential safety hazards within the site environment.
• Assist in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the workplace to ensure compliance with Company Safety policies in order to provide a safe and secure workplace for employees, visitors, vendors, and guests.
• Maintain daily, documentation requirements to report activities, and other related safety prevention matters.
• Perform work task Risk Assessments and develop safety standard work in conjunction with associates.
• Complete ergonomic assessments on job tasks, incorporating findings into applicable Standard Work.
• Provide immediate aid to associates, visitors, vendors, or guests that need assistance, or medical attention as appropriate.
• Coordinate with any outside emergency agency, Fire, Police, Sheriff, OSHA, etc.
• Be a leader in customer service to the Operations team. Understand and frequently work in operations process paths.
• Respond to situations, as they arise, based on direction from the Safety Manager.
• Perform site physical condition safety observations, associate safety behavior observations; and, audits and inspections in relation to fire and safety related equipment.
• Conduct training and participate in new manager orientations, associate orientations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- High school or equivalent
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the position.
- OSHA 30 certification

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $44,512/year in our lowest geographic market up to $54,912/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
