DESCRIPTION

Based in Sunnyvale, CA the EHS Program Manager role will support and continue to develop Lab126 EHS programs. The Labs R&D EHS Manager will develop, communicate, train, drive, manage, audit, improve, and measure Lab126 EHS performance. This individual contributor role will include developing and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes. Developing scalable solutions, building partnerships with lab managers, facilities teams and regional EHS teams will be essential. Driving program understanding, influencing business unit leadership and integrating EHS into daily lab operations will be key success factors to continuously improving EHS performance for the Lab126 portfolio.

Key job responsibilities
• Assess and cost-effectively implement programs to manage Lab EHS-related risks, with the long-term objective to reduce risks and eliminate hazards, while supporting innovation.
• Conduct investigations of working conditions in lab spaces for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific references to chemicals, lasers, radiation, robotics, noise and other potential employee health hazards.
• Develop and implement EHS training programs that will engage all levels of Lab teams on EHS responsibilities, compliance requirements and safety cultural progression within the Global Labs portfolio.
• Provide leadership on EHS issues within the labs team, assist senior leaders in understanding business impacts of EHS issues, thereby enabling prudent allocation of resources and decision-making.
• Support and conduct lab EHS audits and develop action plans to resolve EHS findings and implement solutions and countermeasures promptly and effectively.
• Serve as a key contact for state and local government agencies that have jurisdiction over Lab126 sites.
• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines within the company to assure effective EHS program implementation and cohesiveness.
• Perform data analytics on company and industry EHS information to drive improvement initiatives.
• Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements.
• Remain up-to-date and conversant with relevant laws, regulations and other statutory requirements that affect EHS in a laboratory setting.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental science, or a related field or relevant experience
• 5+ years experience providing EHS support in laboratory/R&D, complex manufacturing, and/or production environment.
• 5+ years experience working with regulatory authorities onsite inspections and permitting/ongoing permit compliance.
• 5+ years experience developing and implementing electrical safety, lockout/tagout, laser safety and radiation safety programs.
• 5+ years experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including: hazardous waste, universal waste, air permitting and water discharge permits.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in an EHS related discipline
• EHS-related licenses, or certifications (i.e. Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or similar).
• 2+ years in managing EHS programs in a fast pace, high tech organization, at a regional/global level.
• A proven track record of driving the EHS agenda in a multi-stakeholder organization, and possess the ability to engage the workforce at all levels in the journey to build a strong EHS culture for Lab126.
• Experience managing one or more of the following programs: Electrical safety, laser safety and/or related programs in an R&D setting.
• Operational or business management experience, with lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
• Have a collaborative, team-oriented approach to EHS management across the enterprise

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
