The Supply Chain and Intellectual Property Security (SCIPS) team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to deliver world-class data solutions that drive strategic decision-making and business intelligence across the organization. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will own designing, implementing, and maintaining data systems that drive strategic decision-making and business intelligence across the organization. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the team's data architecture, ensuring that it is scalable, efficient, and aligned with both short-term needs and long-term business goals. Reporting to the manager of the SCIPS Tech Team, which currently consists of six SDEs and one Product Manager - Tech, you will own all of the team's data engineering. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions using AWS cloud services, creating efficient data pipelines and ETL processes, and developing robust data warehousing and modeling strategies. You will lead the adoption of data governance and quality practices, collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and create meaningful data visualizations for stakeholders. Additionally, you will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, solving complex data engineering challenges, and contributing to the organization's data-driven culture by enabling informed decision-making at all levels of the business.
Key job responsibilities
* Strong experience with AWS cloud services and architecture, including data services (e.g., Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, QuickSight)
* Data Engineering background with expertise in: data pipelines and ETL processes, data warehousing and modeling, system integration and cross-platform solutions
* Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale solutions
* Strong SQL and programming skills
* Knowledge of data governance, quality practices, and data optimization
* Ability to bridge technical and business requirements, including: understanding core business drivers and team-level processes, and collaborating with non-technical team members to identify, codify, and measure key business metrics
* Strong understanding of statistical modeling, including: modeling interventions and time series metrics, running advanced predictive analysis, and explaining modeling techniques to non-technical team members
* Experience with data visualization and with creating meaningful representations for business stakeholders
* Ability to work with technical team members to create and manage a cohesive data warehouse that balances accessibility and data protection
* Skills in measuring and analyzing: adoption rates, efficiency, and impact of specific interventions on targeted outcomes
* Ability to set up data pipelines that provide clean, accessible data while maintaining appropriate access controls
About the team
Our customers handle all security aspects related to Amazon prototype devices and digital content creation. This ranges from developing prototype device security programs, to securing prototype devices supply chains and intellectual property, as well as preventing leaks of digital content. We are responsible for building software tools that enable, accelerate, and digitally transform these security operations. - 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services and architecture, including data services (e.g., Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, QuickSight)
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience operating large data warehouses
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
