Senior Staff Software Engineer, Augmented Reality

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
  
• 5 years of experience in testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, game development, or operating systems architectures and building and shipping systems.
• Experience with the basics of Machine Learning, Generative AI and Graphical User Interface.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
• Experience with mobile design and development.

Extended Reality (XR) Human Interface team is a collection of experts in HCI (Human Computer Interaction), system UI, multimodal input and contextual learning to define how headsets and glasses interfaces evolve. As AI-driven agentic interactions are gaining momentum, we are right in the middle of creating new user interfaces that combine skills in mobile development and applied machine learning approaches. Our team was responsible for multimodal input and the introduction of Gemini Live and Circle to Search experience in Android Extended Reality's first headset.

The Google Augmented Reality team is a group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
