Apple is looking for an engineer to join the Edge Services team responsible for critical systems, such as Apple DNS, that every single Apple team and billions of customer devices depend on! The work involves contributing infrastructure code (Go, shell, C...) to handle services and clusters of servers on six continents in various network environments, address production issues and design for the future

Description

We are looking for a skilled software engineer with deep understanding of a technical system, leading the evolution of its architecture as well as contributing infrastructure code for it in the service of other teams and systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of backend system architecture and experience optimizing and working with large databases. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, collaborate across teams, and demonstrate creativity in solving tough problems with a solid focus on the customer experience. Adaptability, innovation, and a passion for backend systems are key to success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep technical expertise in a technical area
  • Strong programming skills in language in one or more of the languages: Go, C, shell, python
  • Proficient working with APIs and understanding of API integration
  • Experience of designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance backend applications.
  • Experience with various Linux flavors (Redhat, FreeBSD )
  • Experience with revision control systems, continuous integration, unit testing, code reviews and configuration management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in a software engineering role
  • Experience dealing with large database problems and scaling techniques a plus.
  • Experience with DNS protocols, systems, and best practices
  • Hands on experience with DNS software such as Bind, PowerDNS, NSD, and/or Unbound a plus
