The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a senior level Media Processing Software Engineer to help us push the limits of the next generation of media capture and playback. This team is working with some of Apple’s most advanced technologies including object-oriented design, media/video processing, augmented reality (AR), ARKit, RealityKit, to create ground-breaking new products. Description
We are a team of experts in multimedia processing seeking a motivated individual to join us in building new frameworks that powers and enhance the next-generation spatial media experiences.
As a media processing engineer, your work will involve the following:
* Design and develop media processing software frameworks and SDKs for Apple Vision Pro and new products
* Optimize media processing pipelines by minimizing utilization of critical hardware resources(GPU, CPU, memory, etc)
* Analyze software issues, and develop fixes for software anomalies
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams(software, hardware, algorithms and UX) to create ground breaking technologies and systems
* Present results clearly and discuss design and implementation effectively
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering OR equivalent degree OR equivalent experience
5+ years of career experience within software development
Experience with developing media SDKs, frameworks and customer facing APIs
Experience with object-oriented design
Excellent programming skills and proficient with one of the programming languages: C/C++, Objective-C, and Swift
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills
A strong focus on end user experience
Preferred Qualifications
Success shipping media products involving image and video processing, video capture/playback, or media processing pipeline is a plus
Experience with media formats(HEVC, H264, JPEG, etc)
Familiarity with AR/VR technologies
Experience with iOS / macOS development
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
