Are you ready to be an early member of a new engineering team? This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader passionate about applying cutting-edge ML technologies to real-world applications. This position requires a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
Key responsibilities:
Manage and grow a team of world-class ML practitioners to deliver powerful application features using state-of-the-art ML technologies in the area of Computer Vision.
Provide technical and career mentorship to the team, setting them up for success.
Define goals for the team, set expectations and shape roadmaps.
Work closely with partner teams like Quality Assurance and Design to effectively drive execution of projects.
Formulate concrete requirements from vague feature definitions, drive consensus and scope the required effort for planning.
Drive key architectural decisions, working backwards from a deep understanding of product needs.
Build relationships with partner teams across Apple to explore collaboration opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
- MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field, and 7+ years of significant industry experience delivering products using state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning technologies.
- 2+ years of experience managing a team responsible for shipping and maintaining user-facing ML features.
- Deep knowledge in theory and practice of computer vision, machine learning and deep learning techniques.
- Experience in designing and building end-to-end ML pipelines including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment and scaling in production.
- Hands-on experience developing & supervising codebases in Python or other high-level languages.
- Experience leading and effectively executing on highly cross functional, strategic technical projects.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentorship and project management skills.
- Highly technical and detail oriented. Willing to take ownership of features and drive solutions.
- Committed to encouraging an open and inclusive work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field.
- Familiarity with modern camera ISP and digital image processing algorithms and models.
- Experience optimizing models and algorithms that run efficiently on resource constrained platforms.
- Knowledge and keen interest in learning the art and science of photography.
