Description

Are you ready to be an early member of a new engineering team? This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader passionate about applying cutting-edge ML technologies to real-world applications. This position requires a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization. Key responsibilities: Work closely in a diverse team including scientists, engineers, and designers to develop powerful application features using state-of-the-art ML technologies in the area of Computer Vision. Help architect and deliver end-to-end ML solutions in a hands-on manner, alongside other scientists and engineers. Drive key architectural decisions, working backwards from a deep understanding of product needs. Formulate concrete requirements from vague feature definitions, drive consensus and scope the required effort for planning. Mentor engineers and scientists in the team, fostering technical excellence and driving project execution. Stay at the forefront of ML advancements, including Generative AI techniques such as multi-modal LLMs and Diffusion models, to inform product development. Build relationships with partner teams across Apple to explore collaboration opportunities and assess existing solutions for integration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field, and 10+ years of significant industry experience delivering products using state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning technologies.
  • Recognized innovator in the creative space, with experience in identifying and delivering state-of-the-art solutions for creatives.
  • Deep knowledge in theory and practice of computer vision, machine learning and deep learning techniques, including vision transformers, multi-modal LLMs, and Diffusion models.
  • Experience in designing and building end-to-end ML pipelines including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deploying and scaling the model in production.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and set direction for ML integration across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong programming skills in high level languages like Python and one of the deep learning toolkits such as PyTorch, JAX, or Tensorflow.
  • Experience as a technical lead; demonstrating strong communication, collaboration, mentorship and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field.
  • Strong patent and publication record at top conferences.
  • Familiarity with modern camera ISP and digital image processing algorithms and models.
  • Experience optimizing models and algorithms that run efficiently on resource constrained platforms.
  • Experience with Core ML, Swift, and iOS/macOS machine learning development.
  • Knowledge and keen interest in learning the art and science of photography.
