The Core Network Services Operations team keeps Apple’s world-class MPLS backbone network running smoothly and efficiently. We are a global community of engineers who operate the diverse technology, protocol, and vendor stack that interconnects all facets of Apple’s network at a scale that is second to none. We’re seeking a hard-working and passionate person to manage a dynamic and exciting team within Apple’s Global Networking Services. You will be skilled in cross-organizational collaboration, liaising with our internal teams as well as our external service providers to ensure exceptionally high network availability. As the Network Operations manager, you will lead the global team of network first responders to triage and mitigate critical network incidents. This position provides the opportunity to lead and operate a ground breaking, global, multi-vendor environment.
Description
The Core Services team is responsible for connecting people across the globe to Apple, as well as keeping our sites and services globally connected. As the operations manager, you will be responsible for leading the global team of engineers working proactively to ensure the stability and reliability of that connectivity. The role requires leading incident response, defining and implementing proactive monitoring strategies, driving network efficiency efforts, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams and external teams in order to support business growth and network evolution.
This position is based in Elk Grove, California, reporting to the Global Network Services Operations Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of network operational experience, including 3 years as Operations manager in a large scale enterprise or service provider environment
Experience evaluating and leading outages to business critical infrastructure
Experience with network monitoring and telemetry tools (SNMP, NetFlow, Streaming Telemetry)
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, and BGP
Proficiency in communicating network related KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and conducting operational reviews to management
Experience working in large scale network environments with ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Flexibility to work early morning or late night shift patterns required
Hands-on experience with Cisco, Arista, Juniper, and/or Nokia carrier-grade routers and their respective network operating systems preferred
Experience with IP/MPLS, BGP, OSPF/ISIS, EVPN/VXLAN, and Segment Routing
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $155,600 and $234,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
