Our mission is to uphold the AWS security bar at the lowest cost to AWS builders. We are seeking a talented Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to help us achieve this mission through strategic and operational leadership. This is a high impact leadership position where you will work across AWS security and service teams to increase builder efficiency.
AWS Security holds a high security bar to ensure AWS services meet our customers' expectations at launch and in production. As a TPM, you will help us measure the effort AWS service teams expend to meet the security bar, identify opportunities to reduce the effort, and own the delivery of effort reduction initiatives, while continuing to uphold the security bar. Initiatives could range from process improvements, automation solutions and secure-by-default mechanisms..
A successful candidate will demonstrate proven program management skills with experience understanding customer needs, building project plans and launching improvements that deliver value. The candidate will be comfortable managing complex cross-organization initiatives, resolving risks due to competing priorities, resourcing and technical challenges, and communicate program status and plan to leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong data analytical skills and have experience delivering services for use by software developers. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills are important, as the candidate will frequently work with leadership and colleagues that cross organizational boundaries.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive initiatives to improve Builder efficiency whether through process or software solutions
- Measure and continuously monitor the effort Builders expend on security
- Drive investigations into issues related to Builder efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement
- Drive engagement with AWS service teams and security teams to understand problems and encourage adoption of solutions
- Resolve ambiguities and align team plans to minimize technical risk and maximize odds of project success.
- Communicate progress using metrics that demonstrate business impact

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
- Ability to improve data quality and analyze data to draw insights
- 7+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering
- Strong verbal and written communications skills with an ability to communicate technical concepts to leadership as well as a non-technical audience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
