The Audio and Media Technologies Group (AMT) is looking for a technical software engineering manager to join the AirPlay team to help build the future foundations of AirPlay. Audio and Media Technologies (AMT) provides the media foundation across all of Apple's innovative products including iPhone, iPad, Mac, AppleTV, and operating systems. Combining ground breaking software techniques with next-generation hardware, AMT takes the media experience to the next level. Description

In this role, you are both an effective manager and a hands-on technical lead. You will manage a mid-sized team of varying experiences in San Diego, as well as help design and building architectural platforms that hold up over time. You will be responsible for the AirPlay infrastructure, and prototyping breakthrough ideas in AirPlay frameworks. This includes device discovery, connections, and media sharing, helping define a standard for AirPlay features. You will influence the overall systems design. You will manage projects, mentor engineers, and work closely with your peers and leaders to build the future of AirPlay. To be successful in this role, you need to be versatile and able to thrive in a fast paced environment. You must be a team-oriented professional with excellent communication skills, excellent judgment, integrity and the ability to make timely and sound decisions. You must have strong technical skills, and a solid understanding of multithreaded programming and programming on realtime systems. A background in video, audio or media technologies, a good understanding of the various media formats, or experience in API design and maintenance is a plus

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer science, Computer engineering, Electrical engineering with System programming focus or equivalent
  • 5+ years of managing mid-sized teams in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Experience working in audio or media software stacks
  • Travel to collaborate with the team based in Cupertino
