The ASE Live Stream Engineering team is looking for a Live Streaming Engineer to join our Services team. Our services power experiences in the Apple TV app on Apple platforms and 3rd Party TVs. You will contribute to architectural discussions, build performant solutions, and participate in team development and knowledge growth. You will be a subject matter expert for live content acquisition, broadcast production and delivery. You will collect high-level project requirements, take ownership to lead cross-functional teams, and deliver first-class software. You’re a social person, with a good sense of humor, and you’ll shine working within a small, but effective engineering team. With your strong attention to detail, you’ll be able to collaborate with the design and marketing teams, and find the best solutions to important problems, always having the user in mind. Description
You will work with and lead multiple projects, teams, and timelines as well as support operational teams for live streaming services. In this role, you will also assist in broadcast transmission design for high profile live events and setup and maintain live encoding and broadcast workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional client teams to ensure live video features are preforming as encouraged and troubleshoot realtime live video delivery issues, under real-time pressure. You will engage with operations and production teams to collect requirements for new infrastructure buildouts as well with operations teams to troubleshoot video delivery and live workflow issues. You will also troubleshoot complex partner and vendor integrations, while creating, maintaining and executing playbooks, RCAs and integration specifications. Minimum Qualifications
10+ years experience
Expertise with live encoding and video transport
Ability to distill complex engineering solutions to production, business and product teams
Strong understanding of video production and remove production engineering
Strong understanding of broadcast transport technologies
Strong understanding of live HLS encoding technologies
This role will require after-hours and weekend support
BS/BA in Video/Broadcast Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Some scripting experience (Python, Bash)
Familiar with data interchange formats (XML, JSON)
Familiar with RESTful API utilization and debugging
Familiar with SCTE-35/104 and SCTE-224/ESNI
Experience analyzing system logs

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
