We are the Apple’s innovative reliability team, and we are responsible for insuring that our products exceed our customer’s expectations for robustness, durability, and reliability. We are looking for dedicated contributors who enjoy working on ground-breaking products and seeking to make them better through creation and execution of comprehensive test suites, identification of potential failure modes, and collaboration with design teams to drive product improvements.
This particular position is on the iPhone system reliability team. You will be responsible for developing and performing novel test methodologies to validate the robustness of Apple products/sub-assemblies, materials, and supplier technology. In addition, you will lead failure analysis with our outstanding technology teams to establish root cause and corrective actions to insure our products continue to surprise and delight our customers for years to come.

Description
Your day-to-day adventures will include:
- Preparing concise and detailed reliability test plans and reports with an emphasis on prioritizing tasks to meet ambitious deadlines
- Developing new reliability tests, procedures, and specifications
- Analyzing experimental data to provide in-depth understanding of design features
- Researching innovative technology to understand root causes of test failures
- Providing design direction to multi-disciplinary teams to improve product reliability
- Interacting with a diverse and passionate group of team members to communicate results and provide program direction
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a technical field (engineering, physics, etc.)
- Collaborative attitude and ability to cross-functionally work effectively
- Familiarity with failure analysis methodology to identify root cause
- Ability to make clear and concise slides and presentations through Keynote, Excel, etc.
- Ability to travel internationally without restriction
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering role
- PhD degree (Electrical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering or Physical Sciences)
- Statistical experience such as Weibull, JMP, or familiarity with accelerated test models
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audiences ranging from technicians to senior executives
- Extraordinary problem-solving abilities with strong attention to the fine details
- Familiarity with Failure Analysis techniques (Optical Microscopy, X-ray/CT, Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, etc.), and the ability to use failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failure
- Experience in understanding, developing and performing environmental and mechanical stress tests including shock, drop, and vibration
- Application of Design of Experiments and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
- Experience in spirited collaboration between multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to solve complex electromechanical / mechanical design challenges
