Sr. Test Engineer, High Voltage Battery Pack Cycling

What to Expect
We are looking to hire Test Engineers for our Hardware Testing team. As a High Voltage (HV) Battery Pack Cycling Test Engineer, you will work with a passionate and multi-disciplinary group of Engineers while learning how to build and use hardware, firmware, and software solutions to validate Tesla battery cells and battery packs. This role influences the design, quality and process of the battery cell and pack.  We are interested in diverse candidates with relevant experience, but we will prioritize curious and driven Engineers with strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills. 
What You’ll Do
  • Design, build, instrument, automate, and maintain and automate equipment and software infrastructure for battery pack electrical cycling
  • Investigate test failures to drive product development and test improvement
  • Work with Battery Cell Engineers, Reliability Scientists, Material Scientists, Quality, and process to generate test plans
  • Execute pack-level validation testing and debug pack-level and test equipment issues
  • Analyze, document, and present test results to cross-functional teams and leadership
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and data visualization tools
  • Manage and prioritize test setups, test articles, and Technician work
What You’ll Bring
  • Engineering Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • An appetite for technical problem solving
  • Proficient with an object-oriented programming (Python, Rust, etc.) required.  Experience building data pipelines, visualizations, and with developer tools -e.g., Linux, Docker, Kubernetes preferred
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems, battery cells, statics, measurement and instrumentation, mechanics of materials, and linear circuits
  • Experience with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, DAQs, and power supplies), power tools, and machine shop equipment
  • Experience leading, and driving technical projects to completion, especially when multiple teams’ input and buyoff are required
  • Ability to develop or experience developing infrastructure for high power battery applications or high voltage systems 
  • Formal or informal experience with one of the following: automotive systems, mechatronic systems, or physical testing of mechanical, thermal, or electrical systems

    Expected Compensation

    $80,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
