What to Expect

The Semi Drive Systems Technical Program Manager (TPM) will be the Engineering Program owner for multiple projects related to Tesla Semi drive axle. Their core responsibility will be managing execution of sustaining projects as well as new drive axle launches for Tesla Semi, The TPM will be responsible for driving design completion, parts ordering for engineering builds, supporting engineering builds, driving sub-systems validation, and production launches. They will support and guide the Engineering teams by tracking and organizing relevant schedules, metrics and managing resource prioritization across active projects. They will ensure that all team-members are aware of upcoming program deliverables, critical dates and have access to important program information.  

In addition to excellent organization skills, the Semi Drive Systems TPM will leverage engineering background to work with multiple teams for root cause analysis and tracking design improvements. They are expected to have a good knowledge of design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing requirements for drive systems and be able to develop an excellent technical understanding of their domain. This person will work with cross functional teams and lead execution of Semi drive axle program in accordance with the Tesla Engineering Development Framework.  

What You’ll Do
  • Act as Engineering Program owner for Semi Drive Axle program launches and design improvements
  • Manage Semi build plans, parts logistics, and support robust engineering build execution
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams across different continents to prioritize and manage high-impact changes and drive improvements 
  • Maintain project schedule and track key component and program metrics including schedule, reliability, performance, cost, and mass
  • Lead development of testing and validation timelines, DFMEAs, and DVP&R’s and manage prototype sourcing and logistics for early-stage program needs
  • Collaborate with other vehicle system teams, part and system owners on product updates and ensure all changes are well-documented and efficiently implemented with NPI and operations
  • Document lessons learned and extend new improvements and best practices across projects and into new launches and lead robust execution of Tesla Engineering Development Process and help extended engineering team execute critical program milestones
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in project management for complex mechanical/Electro-mechanical products 
  • Experience in the automotive/trucking industry is desired, experience with drivetrain is preferred
  • Proactive, highly organized, and detail oriented, with strong technical communication ability - able to drive improvements across a global interdisciplinary team 
  • Experience analyzing product metrics, business cases, and schedules for large scale implementation

    Expected Compensation

    $88,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
