What to Expect

The Security Engineering team is responsible for helping Tesla securely design, build, and operate life safety critical infrastructure across corporate, manufacturing and production environments. You will work on a broad set of efforts including the design and implementation of systems in new sites, ensuring survivability and resiliency is exceptional, driving the feature set forward, and working with construction teams, the broader business and vendors on project endeavors. Our public and private radio communication systems are life safety critical and your work will focus heavily on ensuring our current and future states produce a highly trusted tool for our Security, EHS, and Production teams.

We are looking for an intern that is eager to learn and has a passion for life safety. You will play a critical role executing high-impact companywide initiatives and working to continuously improve the effectiveness of our org and the technologies we deploy. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, someone who enjoys learning by doing, and can communicate through barriers in a way that builds trust across the organization. 

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for implementing design coordination activities into engineering design packages
  • Responsible for defining scope of work for installations of radio systems including repeater systems, DAS, and networking elements
  • Accurate coordination, communication, and management of both external vendors and internal Tesla teams
  • Participates in technical planning, cost and risk analyses, supportability, and reliability
  • Participates in customer requirements analysis, develops system requirements, and defines commissioning and documentation procedures  
  • Executes evaluations of systems, networks, and information systems
  • Potential global travel to sites for assessments, check on progress, work with other depts, vendors and suppliers
What You’ll Bring
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field of study with a gradation date in 2025
  • Able to relocate and work on site in Austin, TX
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Ham or amateur radio experience is a huge plus
  • Networking experience is a plus
  • PMP or related certification is a plus
