Video Engineering team is seeking a self-motivated Video Codec Quality Engineer with a passion for making all Apple product experience the best it can be. You will be working on the latest Apple products, ensuring that the video experience is the best in the world.
Description
In this role, the main responsibility will be targeting image & video encode/decode, compression/decompression and editing/post-processing technologies of all iOS/macOS/tvOS/watchOS/visionOS platforms. You will be partnering with R&D engineering teams to ensure the quality of video related Frameworks/FW/Drivers. The daily tasks will include testing new features, validating developer’s check-in before submitting to the OS, creating new test cases, HW test racks maintenance, scripting of test cases, new SoC/HW platform bring up and validation, test strategies and planning, hands-on functional testing, bug triaging/reproducing/debugging/reporting/regression, and execution of automated tests.
You will work very closely with both internal and external cross functional teams. You should have a strong curiosity about learning new technologies while meeting all deliverables, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive complex and challenging projects. Strong collaboration with engineering teams and an ability to thrive under pressure, are key skills required to succeed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in CS/EE/CE or related field
Good understanding of CI/CD, automation, source control, and software life cycles
Familiar with iOS, Mac OS, VisionOS, and Unix/Linux environments
Strong programming skills in Python, shell scripting
Image/video knowledge, photography/videography or video editing experiences
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of software development experience
1+ years of SQA, HW validation, or testing experiences
Good understand of video codecs, such as AVC, HEVC, and ProRes
Excellent problem solving and debugging skills and have an eye for subjective quality
Standout ability of collaboration, communication, and teamwork
Able to work independently with minimum supervision and drive projects to closure in a timely manner
Detail oriented and well organized
Proactive, positive, dedicated, inventive, and willing to take challenges.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $117,800 and $177,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
