The iPhone team is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to be part of its world-class engineering team to deliver the future of iPhone to our customers. The role calls for a Hardware Design Engineer who is inspired by the chance to make design decisions, often difficult ones, that will benefit millions of iPhone users worldwide. Description
This is an outstanding hardware design position with participation in architecture, design, and execution of battery and wired/wireless charging initiatives across iPhone products working closely with key cross functional partners in San Diego.
Responsibilities include:
Initial focus to develop system solutions that achieve wired and wireless charging roadmap goals.
Design integration solutions across battery, flex, PCB, and silicon that enable various product goals in cost, thermal performance, battery life, reliability, and environmental impact.
Experience with control systems, electromechanical system integration, and inductive charging preferred.
Future focus may extend to other tightly coupled technology and system development efforts.
There will also be opportunities for international travel.
Minimum Qualifications
BS Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent with strong engineering fundamentals
Experience with electrical system integration involving product-focused module, operational and mechanical cross-functional collaboration.
Experience with schematic capture and rigid/flexible PCB layout
Ability to analyze solutions and make system design trade-offs
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of industry experience, or 2+ years of project lead experience
Exposure to solving unwanted coupling and interference between subsystems
Experience in Design of complex system architectures
Understanding of low voltage power regulation and delivery
Experience in prototype design and validation of custom silicon
Familiarity with the challenges of taking a product from early architecture through to production
Hands on experience with lab test equipment to debug difficult/intermittent hardware issues
Broad experience across different applications and technologies is a plus
Ability to use scripting languages to assist with hardware development
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
