The iPhone Hardware Engineering team is seeking a hardworking and passionate electrical engineer for the position of Hardware Engineer - System Technologies. The ideal candidate will work with iPhone, AirPods and iPad Hardware multi-functional teams to perform in-depth debug, modeling and design validation of sophisticated power conversion systems.
Description
Perform design feasibility study, design testing and verification, and system bring up.
Provide design guideline and support to system architecture design, board layout, product bring up, debug, validation, and factory builds.
Ability to design, analyze and validate power delivery solutions, including modeling of DC-DC converters, passives, power distribution networks and their potential for EMI.
Work with Xfunct stakeholders on Power Architecture, IP specs and performance, passives.
Develop and improve design methodologies to achieve minimal EMI.
Work with multi-functional teams to define design requirements for improved EM performance.
3D-EM and circuit modeling and simulations in the frequency and time domains.
Simulation and analysis of system high-speed circuits for signal integrity and their potential for EMI.
Minimum Qualifications
BS or MS in relevant field
3+ years of experience
Must have experience in power electronics related design and development, including DC-DC converters and LDOs
Must have strong EE fundamentals and problems solving skills
Strong laboratory board-level testing, debugging and validation experience with lab equipments, such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and signal generators
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in relevant field
7+years of experience
Experience in cross-functional collaboration
Experience in architecture design of complex power conversion systems or power management ICs
Knowledge of Power and Signal integrity, and electromagnetic theory, especially in relation to switching regulators, HF ICs, and magnetics
Experience in layout planning and routing strategies of complex power distribution networks (PDN) design for sophisticated power conversion systems
Hands-on experience in using EM and circuit simulation tools, such as Ansys HFSS/Maxwell/SIWave, CST, ADS/Spice/Spectre, Cadence/Sigrity for for debugging and mitigating complex EM and noise coupling issues
Hands-on experience in high frequency and EM testing and validation with lab equipment (near field scanning, spectrum analyzers, impedance analyzers and VNAs)
