Apple’s Sensing Hardware team is looking for a Lab Technician who will be responsible for assisting in data collection, lab support, MacOS support, soldering/rework, and assembly/disassembly of prototype parts and assemblies. The ideal candidate will be proficient with engineering support tasks and have experience with electrical and mechanical assembly processes. Key attributes to bring to the role are abroad technical background, customer service mindset, and exacting attention to detail. They need to be flexible, receptive to ideas from others, team oriented, and willing to work with technologists, engineers and others for continuing to push the technology envelope. Description

- Conduct Test Setups & Data Collection - Support MacOS / Windows computers - Assemble and modify prototype assemblies and test fixtures - Conduct PCB reworks, test/validate your own work - Train lab users on best practices for safe & successful operation of equipment - Assist lab management team with overall upkeep and support of engineering lab space - Work to resolve issues and identify areas for suggested improvement - Actively maintain Health and Safety compliance of lab spaces

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior lab technician experience
  • Ability to conduct device test setup, data collection, and results compilation
  • Ability to support MacOS computers with configuration and upkeep
  • Familiarity with digital productivity tools (Numbers/Excel, Keynote, etc.)
  • Attentive to detail, demonstrated ability to produce professional, high-quality results
  • Ability to promote a culture of proper lab safety and housekeeping practices
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and professionally provide and receive feedback
  • Self motivated and well organized to complete multiple projects quickly and efficiently
  • Must be able to actively work in a lab environment, have the ability to conduct repetitive tasks
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills
  • Must be able to lift up 25 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Apple (or similar) product repairs (both hardware and software)
  • Ability to comprehend and work off of basic circuit diagrams, mechanical schematics, etc.
  • Ability to conduct fine pitch electrical assembly and rework
  • Experience operating metrology equipment (Keyence, Instron, etc.)
  • Experience with fabrication equipment (drills, band saw, hand tools, etc.)
  • Familiarity with EE fundamentals and test equipment
  • Familiarity with Python test scripting
  • Familiarity handling basic chemical hazards (lubricants, coolant, solvents, paint, 3D print resin)
